Urban Tips/Education

We are adding a new venture to our operation. This initiative is to introduce/educate our existing and potential customers and their families on urban farming techniques/tips.

Urban food production (“urban agriculture”) may be defined as the growing, and processing of food inside an urban area even if you have no land space.

We will keep our posts current for interested gardeners to observe and implement our practices in their operations.

Growing in Containers/Pots

Potted plant gardening is also known as container gardening. This is an alternative to placing them directly in the ground.

1.    Choose an appropriate container size depending on the plant. Normally, the larger the container the better it is for the plant. Potted containers come in various sizes and colors, choose the one that fit in with your decor

2.    Fill the container with compost/soil/potting mix.

3.    Place plants or seeds in the container at the recommended depth depending on the plant.

4.    Water regularly and keep the soil moist.

6.    Prune tomatoes as required.

7.    Trellis the plant if necessary.

8.    Place your plants where they can achieve appropriate sunshine. Most plants need at least six hours of sunshine daily.
